King, Gary M.
DALTON— Gary M. King, age 68, of Dalton, passed away on November 11, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer.
He was born on October 1, 1951, in Orrville, to Charles L. “Bill” and Betty (Hasbrook) King Sr. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis Hall, on April 1, 1986, in Orrville. She survives.
He was a loving, caring husband and father, who enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, known as Pa-Paw.
Gary was known for his hard work and became successful as a self-employed truck driver. During his 47 year career as a truck driver, he drove over 3.8 million miles and drove through 38 states, 47 states including vacations.
Gary’s second home was in Faith, SD, where he shot his first buffalo in 2004. His friends there were like family to him. He made yearly visits to hunt and visit with his friends in South Dakota.
In addition to hunting, Gary enjoyed spending time with his family in the backyard, going on vacations, or gathering together for the holidays. He was a rock to his family.
Gary loved his T-shirts and jeans, and he has asked that you wear jeans and T-shirts to his funeral. (T-shirts are available at the Dalton Gazette News, in his memory, 330-760-0720)
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by one daughter, Hope L. Waller; two sons, Kenneth M. King and Kevin M. King, all of Orrville; grandson, who was like a son, Markcus (Maira) Waller of San Antonio, TX; three granddaughters, Nichole Waller, Kendra King, and Gianna King; great-grandchildren, Trey’maine Ingram, Zaydon James, Aniyah Waller, Markcus Waller, Jr. and Ezra Waller; sisters, Sheryl Musser of Orrville, Karen Fickes of Uniontown, Tammy (Robert) Hostetler and Leesa King of Orrville; brothers, Ronnie King and Jeff (Betty) King of Orrville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest brother, Charles “Billy” Lee King Jr. and his youngest brother, Bradley J. “Brad” King.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Marshallville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bob Laughlin officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Marshallville.
Friends may call at Marshallville United Methodist Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral.
