Keener, Ravae I.
SMITHVILLE — Ravae I. Keener, age 72, of Smithville, died Friday, November 15, 2019, at Brookdale Senior Living in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Ravae was born on December 7, 1946, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to the late John and L. Pauline (Horrisberger) Stauffer. She graduated from Central Christian High School in Kidron in 1964 and then from Timken Mercy Hospital Nursing School as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1968. She married Eugene N. “Gene” Keener on June 21, 1969, by Rev. Richard Ross at Salem Mennonite Church in Wooster. Gene survives.
She worked as an L.P.N. for several local healthcare facilities, last working for Wayne General Hospital in Orrville, retiring in 1980. Most recently she owned and operated Nature’s Corner (Health Food Store) in Smithville for 20 years, retiring in December of 2005.
Ravae was a life-long member of Salem Mennonite Church in Wooster. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, socializing with people, and providing natural herbs and holistic therapies. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Gene, are a son, Vincent Keener of Marshallville; two daughters, Loretta (Timothy) Singenstreu of Orrville, and Regina (Sunell) Vincent of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Sutherland Singenstreu of Wooster, Francesca Singenstreu of Orrville, Sophia, Ayden, and Norah Vincent, all of Cincinnati; four siblings, Kenneth Stauffer of Denver, CO, Linda (Erwin) Bartel of Dalton, Madora (Thomas Mabry) Stauffer of Denver, CO, and Lowell (Charlotte) Stauffer of Wooster; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, November 22, 2019, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Smithville Mennonite Church, 6097 Akron Road, Smithville.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at Smithville Mennonite Church, with Pastor Todd Martin officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Memorial Park (Salem Mennonite) in Wooster.
