Dalessandro, Gertrude I. “Gert”

Wooster— Gertrude I. “Gert” Dalessandro, age 85, formerly of Orrville, died December 4, 2019, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a period of declining health.

She was born in Nova, OH on August 6, 1934, the daughter of Marcus and Lucy (Eldridge) McCormack and was united in marriage to Nick J. Dalessandro on December 26, 1951, in Orrville.  Nick preceded her in death on August 10, 2009.

Gert graduated from Union High School and was formerly employed in the meat department at Buehler’s Food Market in Orrville.  Gert enjoyed going to flea markets, casinos, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Dennis (Doris) Dalessandro and Chris (Yvette) Dalessandro, both of Orrville, Keith Dalessandro of Akron, and David (Terri) Dalessandro of Shreve; grandchildren, Dennis, Brian, Sara, Ashley, Andrea, Leon, Joshua, and Nicholas; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim; and sisters, Shirley and Lucille.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers.

At her request, there will be no services or calling hours. Cremation has taken place.  Burial of cremains will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, at a later date.
