Lady Dawgs ground Falcons, bite Tigers

Dalton High School’s varsity girls basketball team had a strong week when they took
down Hillsdale and then beat Massillon.

The Lady Dawgs topped Hillsdale, 65-27, Dec. 5. The game was out of reach for the
Falcons by the end of the first quarter when the Lady Dawg led 27-7. Hillsdale had only scored
11 points at halftime, which was in comparison to Dalton’s 45 points at the halfway mark.

Makenna Geiser finished with 19 points, four rebounds and four assists. Camille Beatty
scored 13 points, grabbed two rebounds and had one assist. Lauren Clos totaled nine points,
pulled three boards and had one assist. Mia Weaver and Ella Lunsford both scored four points
and ripped five rebounds. Piper Cannon scored four points and grabbed one rebound. Charity
Green scored two points and grabbed one rebound.

Tess Denning pulled six boards, scored two points and had one assist. Gabby Cicconetti
grabbed five rebounds and had two points.
Kelsey Shoup dished five assists, collected four points and two rebounds. Kylee Johnson
dropped three dimes, scored two points and had one rebound.

Dalton’s JV team defeated Hillsdale, 49-20, on Dec. 5. Green was the high scorer for the
Lady Dawgs with 16 points. Johnson and Sarah Witmer each scored 11 points.

The Lady Dawgs defeated Massillon, 60-48, on Dec. 7. Beatty knocked down three shots
from downtown and collected 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Geiser fell just shy of a
double-double with 12 points and eight assists. She also pulled four rebounds. Denning played
well both offensively and defensively as she finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Shoup
also had 10 points in addition to two rebounds and one assist. Weaver added seven points,
grabbed five rebounds and dished two assists. Lunsford totaled five points and one rebound. Clos
ripped six boards, had one assist and scored three points.
