The week started with Dalton High School’s varsity boys basketball team winning a close game against Lake Center Christian. The Dawgs could not come out on top against Waynedale, however, for their first loss of the season. Dalton’s overall record is now 2-1 and they are 0-1 in WCAL.

The Bulldogs traveled to Lake Center Christian on Dec. 3 and took home a close 65-62 win. Jalen Wenger collected 22 points in the win. Adam Bidlack added 11 points. Liam Riggenbach scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds. Jaiden Malone and Joey Dalessandro each scored nine points. Chance Green finished with five points. Tyler Baer pulled six boards and dished four assists.

Dalton suffered its first loss of the season to Waynedale Dec. 6 at home. The Golden Bears won 54-41. Wenger led the Dawgs with 21 points. Bidlack contributed seven points. Malone had three points and three assists. Ezra Miller and Dalessandro combined for three points. Riggenbach grabbed 10 rebounds and scored seven points. Baer ripped five rebounds and had three assists.

Dalton’s head coach Kaleb Reed said this first loss of the season was a learning experience for his team.

“We played well defensively, but struggled to finish plays offensively in the second half,” he said. “It was a tough game to drop at home, but we will learn from this one and be a better basketball team for it.”
