OBIT – Schlabach, John N.

John N. Schlabach, 75, of Apple Creek, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 12, 2019 following a period of declining health.

He was born in Wayne County on March 17, 1944 to the late Noah and Lydiann (Miller) Schlabach and married Martha Wiles on December 21, 1967 and she survives.
He accepted Jesus as his Saviour in his youth and remained faithful.  He was a member of Sonlight Chapel near Maysville.  He was a dairy farmer and co-owner of Apple Creek Grinding and Rollermilling.  In later years he hauled livestock and provided transportation for the Amish community.  He enjoyed spending his winter months in Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Mark (Naomi) Schlabach, Paul (Wanda) Schlabach and John Michael (Regina) Schlabach, all of Apple Creek, Teresa (Phil) Miller of Frederickburg, Lori (Cletus) Weaver of Fort Shaw, Montana and Lisa (Kevin) Coblentz of Holmesville;  grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Roy, Jonas, Henry, Freeman and Noah Jr.; and sisters, Verna Chupp, Mary Schlabach and Esther Swartz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janessa Kay Miller; a sister, Ada Lowe; and a sister-in-law, Anna Schlabach.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Gospel Haven Mennonite Church, 6871 SR 241, Millersburg (Benton) with Delbert Kline officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sonlight Chapel Cemetery.  Friends may call on Saturday from 6-8 PM and Sunday from 2-5 PM at the Sonlight Chapel,  8721 Mt. Hope Road, Apple Creek.  Spidell Funeral Home in Mt. Eaton is handling the arrangements.
