Mary Ellen Ketler

DALTON – Mary Ellen Ketler, age 95, passed away on January 2, 2020.

Born on October 20, 1924 in North Lawrence, OH to the late Lester and Rebecca Jane (Berg) Poorman, she was a life resident of Dalton.  Mary Ellen retired from Gerstenslager after 44 years of service and was a member of the Dalton Presbyterian Church and the Wayne County Chapter of A.A.R.P.  She was thought of by family as a peaceful, generous, loving, and gentle spirit who never met a stranger.  Mary Ellen loved to travel, play euchre, and attend community meals with her family and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Harry “Junie” in 2005; brother, Dale Poorman; sisters, Anna Mae Kiger, Hazel Blacksten, and Gladys Rowan, she is survived by her sisters, Edna Drew, Ruth “Toody” Rossiter both of Dalton; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other family and many dear friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Dalton Presbyterian Church, 163 W. Main St., Dalton, OH, 44619 with Pastor Sally Fusek, officiating.  Burial will take place at Dalton Cemetery.  Calling hours will be one hour prior to service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Dalton Presbyterian Church.  Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com

    I think of Mary Ellen every time I pass her house, which is quite often. She always acknowledged me by name and with her sweet smile. And I admired how she carried herself. I will continue to think of her.
