United Way offers income tax assistance

ORRVILLE  Orrville Area United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free income tax assistance to those who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their tax returns.

United Way’s IRS-certified volunteers will prepare and electronically file federal and state tax returns, so taxpayers can quickly receive your full refund, according to a news release.

Assistance will be offered at the Orrville Public Library, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 4,11,18 and 25, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 8, 15, 22 and 29. To schedule, contact WHIRE at 330-263-6363.

Clients should bring proof of identification and social security cards for themselves and any other person who will be listed on the return.

Clients must bring their checkbook (account and routing number) if they would like to utilize direct deposit for their tax refund.

Clients should bring all W2’s, 1099’s, interest statements (mortgage, investments, bank) and any other forms marked “Important Tax Information”. College students, or if claiming a college student as a dependent, please bring the 1098T form provided by the university.
