Obit – Herbert, James A.

Orrville — James A. Herbert, age 75, of Orrville, died Monday, January 20, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Canton, following a long period of declining health.

Jim was born on October 21, 1944, in Mansfield, Ohio, son of the late Ralph and Nina (Burkey) Herbert, and married Molly Johnson on July 31, 1998, in Gatlinburg, TN. Molly survives.

He graduated from Orrville High School in 1962 and worked for Ohio Injector in Wadsworth for several years.  He then began his long career as an Insurance Salesman for State Farm Insurance in Wadsworth where he worked for many years.

Jim was a director for the Crown Hill Condo Association and worked as an advocate for adoptee’s rights, as well as accessibility for handicapped persons.  Jim enjoyed rock-n-roll music of the 50s and 60s, and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph E. Herbert of St. Paul, MN, and Daniel (Lulu) Herbert of Mexico; daughter, Latisha (Jared) Riblet of Wooster; grandchildren, Fernando, James, and Zoe; sister, Amanda Herbert of Wooster; and his caretaker family, Dan Rodriguez, Virginia Madrid, Leslie Rodriguez, and Ashley Madrid.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joao Herbert; and a sister, Marilyn Mast.

Friends may call next Friday, January 31, 2020, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Graveside services and committal of ashes will follow at 1:30 PM next Friday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with Pastor Don Bolich officiating.
