Interested in being a census taker? Stop by Dalton Library for info event Friday

DALTON  Meghan Millea, a recruiter for the U.S. Census Office in Wayne County, has an event 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Friday at the Dalton Library where she will provide information and help those apply online who may be interested in becoming census takers.
Census takers work where they live and get paid $18/hour in Wayne County, according to information provided. Mileage is reimbursed at 57.5 cents per mile, paid training and weekly pay. Hours are flexible, part-time. They also get to be a part of helping their community. Population numbers determine the dollars that come back to the community and the number of representatives in Congress.
Millea will have materials available and she will answer any questions and help people apply online. Anyone also can apply from home or on their phone. Applicants must be 18 when sworn into office and a U.S. citizen to be eligible. Millea also will be holding applicant workshops at Ohio Means Jobs for the next several Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
