DALTON A local chapter of Girls on the Run hit the ground running last year and is hoping to grow in its second season.
“I love Girls on the Run because I get to be with my friends and learn life lessons like how to make new friends,” said Anna Doerfler, a Dalton third grader and participant.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program that teaches self-esteem and builds confidence, according to the website at www.gotreco.org. Girls on the Run teaches life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games.
The 2020 spring program meets at Dalton Elementary School 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and is open to girls in grades 3 and 4. Coaches for the Dalton program are Jen Doerfler and Sara Taylor. The new season begins this week and registration is open by March 8.
