All Wayne County Public Library branches closed

DGKN staff report

All branches of the Wayne County Public Library have been closed effective today until further notice, according to a release from the WCPL.

In a letter to patrons posted on the WCPL’s website, Library Director Jennifer Shatzer writes:

“It is with much consideration that the difficult decision has been made to close all locations of the Wayne County Public Library until further notice.
This decision was not made lightly. The scientific evidence that early social distancing can help stop the spread of the coronavirus was a compelling factor in taking this precautionary step on behalf of our patrons, staff and our community during this global health crisis.

While our locations will be closed, and bookmobile stops cancelled, digital library resources including eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music and research and learning tools, are available through our website, wcpl.info. . If you have questions on how to use our online services, if you do not have a library card, or if your car will not allow you to access these resources, please use this link on our webpage to contact us:
https://www.wcpl.info/contact-us/ . We will have staff working remotely who may be able to assist you with questions or with obtaining an eCard which will give you temporary access to our online resources.

“Please continue to enjoy the materials you currently have checked out,”  writes Jennifer Shatzer, director of Wayne County Public Library. “The book drops will be locked for the duration of our closure. Due dates will be extended. There are no fines for overdue materials. WiFi access is currently available 24/7 outside our buildings.

“The safety of our patrons and our staff is a priority. We will keep you informed of additional changes in library operations as this rapidly evolving public health situation continues to unfold.
Be safe, be healthy, be kind to one another. We will miss seeing you!”

How can you use on-line and curb side services if you don’t know what books or movies or music is available? Guess? Or does wcpl website list every resource they have on file and then you can choose?
