DALTON A 62-year-old man from Shreve remained in the hospital Tuesday with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening after the concrete mixer he was driving overturned Monday afternoon, according to Lt. Steph Norman with Ohio Highway Patrol.
The concrete mixer from Liberty Redi-Mix in Akron was the only vehicle involved in the crash at 2:16 p.m. Monday at U.S. 30 and Cochran Road.
The crash is still under investigation, Norman said. The report states the driver went off the left side of the roadway and with the load the truck was carrying, the truck lost balance and rolled. Norman said the company is working to clean the debris in the median and motorists are asked to be cautious when traveling in the area.
East Wayne Fire District extricated the man who was trapped inside and transported him to a local hospital. Along with the Ohio Highway Patrol, Dalton Police Department responded. Both lanes were closed for a few minutes while a tow truck with a crane worked on the truck, Norman said.
