Boals, Gene

Gene Boals, 90, of Dalton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 with his family at his side.

He was born in Dennison on July 1, 1929 to the late Carl and Alice (Leggett) Boals and married Zana M. Nickles on October 3, 1959 and she survives.
Gene was a proud US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Wooster Brush Company in 1996 following 29 years of service.
He had a heart for his community and shared his time and talents with many organizations over the years.  He was a member of the Rotary for 50 years and previously served on the United Way board.  He was an active member of the West Lebanon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife Zana, he is survived by three daughters and their families, Pam and Patrick Sword of Dalton and their children Stephanie (Jonathan) Poorman (Beckett, Maverick and Emmett) and Joshua (fiance Sarah Dalton); Linda and Jack Husted of Dalton and their children, Brandon (Lauren) Husted (Alexandra and Jack), Jillian (Brynt) Werntz (Kasen, Dennon and Lincoln), Ty (Carolyn) Husted, Bryce Husted and special grandson, Justin Myers; Shirley and Adam Swinehart of Wooster and their children Shad, Shyler and Shannah Swinehart; and a sister, Karen (Dan) Timney.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.
A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at a later date.  Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
The family would like to thank Gene’s physicians and the wonderful care givers with LifeCare Hospice.
Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice or to the East Wayne Fire District.
