McKeown, Rita Lynnette

ORRVILLE — Rita Lynnette McKeown, age 56, of Orrville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a long illness.

Rita was born on July 26, 1963, in Akron, to Hugh and Wilma (Ward) Ramey, graduated from Coventry High School in 1981, and attended Hammel College in Akron.  She married Greg McKeown on May 29, 1982, in Barberton. Greg survives.

She made her home in Orrville and attended Orrville Christian Church. Rita enjoyed swimming, reading, music, dancing, and spending time outdoors.  She loved animals and would take in strays and care for them.  She especially loved get-togethers and spending time with her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Greg, are her mother, Wilma Butler of New Concord; son, Ryan (Christina) McKeown of Wooster; daughter, Sierra McKeown of Orrville; step-son, Adam McKeown of Barberton; three grandchildren, Destinee, Craig, and Jessica McKeown; two half-brothers, Jerry McAfee of TN and Raymond McAfee of New Concord; half-sister, Wanda McAfee of Akron; sister, Lora (Kevin) Russell of Wooster; two brothers, Lewis (Liz) Ramey of New Concord and Van Ramey of Rittman; sister-in-law, Debbie Ramey of Akron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Ramey; brother, Ward Ramey; half-brother, Perry McAfee; and step-father, Leroy Butler.

Cremation will take place and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
