Unruh, Bryan Gene

MOUNT EATON – Bryan Gene Unruh, 54, of Mount Eaton, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Hennis Care Center in Bolivar, OH.

He was born in Merced, CA, on August 27, 1965, to Earl and Lorraine (Koehn) Unruh and grew up in Livingston, CA, where he received his education. He moved to Ohio in his early twenties and married Martha Schrock on February 7, 1991. They were married for 29 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at Kidron, OH.
Bryan appreciated the opportunity to learn the blacksmith trade from his father-in-law, Emanuel Schrock, and working with him and his nephew Weston, who is carrying on the trade. Later he transitioned to working as a mechanic from his home near Mount Eaton. He closed his shop in April, 2018, due to failing health.
He is survived by his wife Martha; brother, Charles (Carolyn) Unruh; and his niece, Cynthia Unruh, who was a bright spot in his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl; his mother, Lorraine Unruh, and brother Burton.

Calling hours for friends and family will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Rock of Ages Mennonite Church, 4451 S. Kansas Road, Apple Creek, where the ushers will assist with observing social distancing. Private services will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
