“Historic” is how Dalton High School senior Makenna Geiser summarized her final season on the girls varsity basketball team.

It was historic, not just for the seniors, but for the entire Dalton varsity girls basketball program.

“We accomplished something that no other girls Dalton team has been able to do by winning the first championship and also winning districts for the fourth time and then going to regionals for the fourth time,” Geiser said.

In the fourth season for Geiser and her three fellow seniors, Kelsey Shoup, Camille Beatty and Gabby Cicconetti, the Lady Dawgs finished with an overall record of 23-3, a perfect 14-0 record in WCAL action and won the first girls WCAL championship in school history. During their careers as Lady Dawgs, the seniors won 20 or more games each season, claimed four district titles, and were regional runners-up twice.
