Dalton Police identify man who fled on foot

DALTON  A man who took off on foot after being stopped by village police for speeding in his vehicle on U.S. 30 has been identified and will have his case submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review for charges and a warrant.

Late Tuesday night, Dalton Police Officer Eric McFarren activated his lights and attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding along U.S. 30. The vehicle eventually stopped in the Henry Street area and the offender took off on foot, according to Chief Ryan Pearson. A second Dalton Police unit, Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies, and a K-9 unit from Wooster Police Department also responded.

Two passengers in the vehicle were released, and the vehicle – which belonged to the offender – was towed. Police found a suspected illegal substance in the vehicle which will be tested.
