BUSINESS NEWS: Dalton’s PNC Bank to close, consolidate with Orrville Aug. 21

DGKN staff report

DALTON PNC Bank will close it doors Aug. 21 in Dalton, and will consolidate with the Orrville West Branch.

Staff may be reassigned to other positions within PNC, according to an email from the corporate office.

The branch will permanently close and officially consolidate Aug. 21 with the Orrville West Branch at 101 W Market St., in Orrville, according to an email from Marcey Zwiebel, director, corporate public relations for PNC Bank.

“We constantly evaluate our branches, together with our other available channels of banking, to ensure that they are most effectively meeting our customers’ needs,” she wrote. “As a result of these evaluations, which were conducted independently of impacts created by COVID-19, the decision was made to consolidate the Dalton Branch.”

I’m not happy with the PNC Dalton, Ohio branch closing August 21, 2020. Change is always tough and the older you get, the harder it is to adjust. I live 2 miles from the Dalton branch, 6 miles from the Orrville branch. At 83, I’m going to miss walking into the bank and everyone saying, “Hi Clarice”. I will also miss the ATM. Did you ever think of setting up some sort of a deal with the Dalton’s Farmers Bank branch that PNC customers could use their ATM machine without a fee?.thanks for listening. Clarice Shisler

I’m not happy either. This will be a real problem for some people. If I have to go to Orrville to bank, it will probably be at the credit union and not PNC. I expect to be opening an account at Farmers Bank soon. I need a local, in-my-town bank. I love all the people at the Dalton Branch and will miss their help and friendliness. It has been a real pain to be at home and have to call corporate when I need a simple answer about my account.
