ORRVILLE — Lowell G. Bowers, age 87, of Orrville, died Monday, August 3, 2020, at West View Healthy Living in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Lowell was born on January 16, 1933, in Orrville, to the late George and Edith (Eshelman) Bowers, graduated from Orrville High School in 1951, and served in the United States Army. He married Ellen Louise Walkerow on August 27, 1953. Ellen died in 2008 and he later married Louise (nee: Bechtel) Miller on April 14, 2012, in Orrville.
He worked as an accountant for Crown Steel/Flo-Tork (Moog) in Orrville for 50 years.
Lowell was a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Orrville and also attended Orrville Mennonite Church. He enjoyed reading, investments, watching baseball and softball at the park, the Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Football. He loved to follow his grandchildren in all their endeavors.
Surviving are his wife, Louise; three children, Sharon (Wade) Karhan of Wooster, Sheryl Bowers of Wooster, and Brian (Julie) Bowers of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Emily Karhan of Columbus, Matthew Karhan of San Diego, CA, and Rachel and Brandon Bowers of Uniontown; three great grandchildren, Noah and Lydia McCaman, and Benny Karhan; four step-children, Jeff (Nancy) Miller of Canton, Larry (Steve) Miller of Washington, DC, Michael (Halle) Miller of Wooster, and Barbara (John) Shilling of Creston; and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, Ellen, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil R. Bowers.
Private family services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery with Pastors Bill Seymour and Ray Pfahler officiating.
