Comito, Bernard C.
Bernard C. Comito, 96, of Dalton, went home to be with the Lord peacefully late Friday evening, August 28, 2020 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Santa Cruz, CA on June 19, 1924 to the late James and Catherine (Maggiore) Comito. Bernie led a full life. He was one of the last remaining Pearl Harbor Survivors. He served in the Navy and went on to work in public education as a teacher and retired as the principal at Mount Eaton Elementary School. He was a positive light to many people throughout his long life.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; children, Christopher (Jennifer) Comito of Orrville, Rhea Comito of Dalton, Bernard Comito of San Jose, CA, Robert (Barbara) Comito of Pleasanton, CA, Barbette (Mark) Schoening of Brush Prairie, CA; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Cucciare and Margaret Skyberg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Romio.
Family graveside services with military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
