COVID-19 cases increase in Wayne County

WOOSTER  The Wayne County Health Department has seen an increase in COVID-19 positive cases over the previous two-week period, according to a news release. There have been 159 positive cases reported from Aug. 16 to Aug. 30.

Health Department data has shown wide community spread of the virus for several months and the increase in cases is a direct result of this.

As the county opens up, individuals are interacting more often, facilitating effective spread of the virus. There have been outbreaks and clusters of COVID-19 in businesses, churches, colleges, schools, daycares and nursing homes as well as the general population of the county.
Wearing masks, social distancing, frequent handwashing and being familiar with symptoms are the best tools to slow the spread of COVID-19, the new release states.

“It is important that we continue to follow these guidelines and to keep in mind that flu season is approaching. Everyone must do their part to stop the spread of the virus,” the release states.
