Rise in COVID-19 cases in Wayne County causes health department to close STD/HIV clinics

WOOSTER   The Wayne County Health Department has temporarily closed its STD and HIV clinics effective Sept. 2 because of an increase in COVID-19 cases in Wayne County, according to a health department news release.

As of Aug. 29, Wayne County has recorded 751 positive COVID-19 cases (325 male and 426 female), which is 28 more than the previous update. The county has seen 79 hospitalizations and 61 deaths, according to Wayne County Ohio Joint Information Center (wcjic.org). In the state, 121,340 positive cases have been recorded, which is an increase of 1,216 since the last update. Ohio has seen 13,221 hospitalizations and 4,126 deaths, Nationwide, positive cases are nearing 6 million and there have been more than 182,500 deaths.
