2020 Ohio MCC Run 4 Relief focusing on COVID-19 Relief Kits
The 2020 Ohio Mennonite Central Committee Run 4 Relief will be focusing on sharing COVID-19 hygiene kits with those in need around the world.
The Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale raises money for MCC, a worldwide ministry of Anabaptist churches, which celebrates 100 years.
The Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale Run 4 Relief 1K & 5K event will be a virtual run this year, but people can still participate and raise money to help MCC assist families around the world by providing a COVID-19 hygiene kit. Each $20 increment will be enough to purchase items in-country for one kit. The kit includes hand soap, laundry detergent, disinfectant or bleach, and a bucket.
Runners will sign up for the 1k or 5K distance on the website www.ohiomccreliefsale.org/run-relief-5k Participants will run distances from Saturday, Sept. 5 until Saturday, Oct. 3 on your personal 5K or 1K racecourse. A photo or run-route reply will signal the completion of the run.
To make this event more meaningful, all participants will be asked to choose one of three activities to complete to reduce their running time. The choices are: sharing a photo of a purchase at an MCC Thrift Store. Stores are in Berlin, Hartville and Kidron; cooking and eating a meal from the More With Less or Simply in Season cookbooks (share a photo of meal); or answer three questions about MCC’s 100-year history. (See the Run 4 Relief website for questions).
Registration fees will be donated to MCC to purchase locally bought buckets of sanitation supplies to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The 5K registration fee is $30. The 1K fee is $15.
