Yonto, Helen E.
Orrville — Helen E. Yonto, age 98, of Orrville, died Friday, October 30, 2020, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster, following a period of declining health.
Helen was born on July 24, 1922, in Orrville, to the late Clyde and Helen (Moran) Weiser, graduated from Orrville High School in 1940, and attended Ohio University. She worked as a secretary for Orrville Bronze and Aluminum for about 4 years until her marriage to Anthony J. Yonto on December 1, 1945, in Orrville. Tony died on January 26, 2014.
She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, including service as a secretary for former pastor Fr. Hoot. Helen was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and served as a volunteer for the ABEL program, teaching English as a second language. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing bridge with several bridge clubs and was also a member of the Riceland Ladies Golf League for many years.
Surviving are her son, Dave (Kathy) Yonto of Orrville; two grandsons, Nick (Jessica) Yonto of Fox River Grove, IL and Steve (Kate) Yonto of Cleveland; three great grandchildren, Claire, Andrew, and Cole Yonto.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Weiser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville, with Fr. Ronald J. Turek officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Visitors are asked to wear masks, practice social distancing, and adhere to the posted signs and spacing limitations. Seating may be limited.
