This has been a season like no other for Dalton High School’s varsity volleyball team.

The Lady Dawgs had a rocky start to the season, lost eight games and struggled at some points. Add in the changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it would be easy for a team to lose its focus. However, that was not the case with Dalton. The team battled through the sectional and district tournaments and even upset the No. 1 seed. In the regional tournament, the Lady Dawgs eliminated Mineral Ridge and came back against Monroeville to earn a state tournament spot. Dalton’s overall record is 18-8.

“I am so proud of all these girls,” said Dalton head coach Allison Hostetler. “They had a rough start to their season, but instead of backing down, they kept pushing to get the success they wanted.”

Dalton took down Mineral Ridge 25-18, 25-14, 25-13 in the Region 13 semifinal Nov. 5 at Lake High School. Tess Denning guided her team with 12 points, one ace and eight kills.
