Dalton High School’s girls varsity basketball team took a 50-42 road loss to Triway in the season opener Nov. 21.

The Lady Dawgs trailed 26-23 at halftime, but the Titans pulled away in the second half and held Dalton to only six points in the fourth quarter.

Addesa Miller downed four shots from 3-point land and put up 16 points for the Lady Dawgs, in addition to eight rebounds and three assists.

Tess Denning was just shy of a double-double with nine points, nine rebounds and one assist. Mia Weaver pulled eight boards, scored six points and passed two assists. Sarah Witmer finished with five points, two rebounds and one assist. Charity Green had four points and one rebound. Kylee Johnson collected four rebounds, two points and one assist. Lauren Clos dished six assists and grabbed three rebounds.

Dalton’s head coach Katie Miller detailed what her team needs to work on for their upcoming games.

“We will need to be a better defensive team one-on-one and as a unit,” she said. “We will continue to work on areas of weakness as we continue through the season. Chippewa is going to be a tough opponent that we will have to defend the dribble drive much better.”
