CHIPPEWA TWP. A Rittman woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Jason Morrison 34, of Rittman, was driving east on Eastern Road in a 1997 Saturn SL when the vehicle traveled left of center at about 7:22 p.m., just west of County Road 51 (Mennonite Road) in Chippewa Township. The vehicle went off the north side of the roadway, before striking a tree and overturning. Besides Morrison, Brooklynn Adcox 26, also of Rittman, was in the front passenger seat. Two children, ages 6 and 2, also were in the vehicle. Adcox was not wearing a seatbelt, the news release states, and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner‘s Office.
The two children were transported to Akron Children‘s Hospital where they were treated for non–life threating injuries. Morrison was uninjured in the crash and was treated and released at the scene.
Assisting at the scene were Rittman Fire and EMS, Rittman Police Department, Wayne County Coroner‘s Office and the Wayne County Prosecutor‘s Office.
This crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are unknown at this time.
