After suffering a loss to Revere, Dalton High School’s varsity boys basketball team
bounced back with a big win over Rittman. The Dawgs have a 6-3 overall record and a 6-0
record against WCAL teams.

Dalton hosted Revere Jan. 5 and fell 80-60. Jalen Wenger led with 17 points. Jack Steiner
and Braylon Wenger both scored 11 points each and Wenger also grabbed five rebounds. Liam
Riggenbach put up nine points and eight rebounds. Jaden Schlabach scored seven points. Dillon
Horst and Ezra Miller combined for five points. Jaiden Malone dished out nine assists.

The Dawgs did not stay down for long. They came back big in their Jan. 8 home game
against Rittman and won 67-26. Jalen Wenger resumed his usual dominance with 28 points.
Steiner added 10 points in the runaway victory. Braylon Wenger totaled eight points and seven
rebounds. Owen Beatty also scored eight points. Riggenbach and Miller both scored four points
apiece. Malone passed four assists and scored two points. Schlabach pulled seven boards and
scored three points.

“I was very pleased with the amount of effort and intensity the kids brought from the
opening tip in our last game,” said Dalton’s head coach Kaleb Reed on his team’s win over
Rittman. “I really wanted to emphasize those two things in our defensive game plan. We got
some good minutes out of a lot of kids, also. That is going to be important moving forward and
keeping out legs fresh as we get ready to go through the toughest part of our schedule. The team
will have to play quite a few games over the next three weeks.”
