Busy historical Society expects to reopen in spring 2021

DALTON Even though the campus has been closed, volunteers have been working at the Dalton Community Historical Society, according to President Vickie Menges.

Inside, volunteers have kept busy logging in acquisitions. Outside, work has included bushes and shrubs removed by the village and volunteers, and two large trees by the side of the hotel have been trimmed.

“Thank you to all those who have donated to the historical society to help complete these projects,” Menges wrote in an email. “We have had to cancel our two fund raisers for the year, so the donations help make these improvements possible.”

The historical society did not put out a calendar in 2020.

“We have one major project left and that is sand blasting, power washing and painting the wrought iron fence in front of the museum campus. This fence was erected at the museum in the early ’80s and used to stand at the Dalton Cemetery,” Menges wrote.

“Look for the museum to hopefully reopen next spring,” she said.
