Brown, Dorothy Lee

KEY WEST, FL — Dorothy Lee Brown, age 96, of Key West, FL, formerly of Orrville, died Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Palm Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation in Key West, following a period of declining health.

Dorothy was born on January 23, 1924, in Vernon, Texas, to the late Lee and Gertrude (Morris) Palmer and graduated from Versailles (CA) High School.

She was a homemaker as well as a Co-Owner and Operator of Ken-Lee Lanes in Orrville for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Dorothy was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville and a 30-year cancer survivor. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and loved to bowl.

Surviving are her son, Allen (Jennifer) Rake of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Cynthia Rake of Key West, FL; two granddaughters, Kristan Lee Roach of Downers Grove, IL and Rebecca Allyn (Eric) Satterfield of Zionsville, IN; three great grandchildren, Claire Elizabeth Roach, Sarah Jennifer Satterfield, and Joshua Allen Satterfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene R. Rake; second husband, Paul V. Brown; and six siblings.

Friends may call on January 30, 2021, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Services will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rev. Dr. Michael H. Bone officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.

Visitors are asked to wear masks, practice social distancing, and adhere to posted signs and spacing limitations.  Seating may be limited.
