Reason for nomination:
Erin Yoh goes above and beyond her job as an intervention specialist, helping both staff and students on a daily basis. Erin consistently has a positive attitude, works hard, and is always there to help.
What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
“I love the students – especially because I get to work with students for two years. I love that students grow more comfortable with asking questions and sharing their stories, and I like watching them grow in their ability to take on challenging work. I also appreciate the supportive staff at Dalton. When I have questions or ideas, others are willing to listen and offer advice.”
How did you get to where you are today (education/ experience/inspiration)?
“I graduated from Bluffton University in northwestern Ohio. Over the past 13 years, I have taught in four districts – both rural and urban. I am not sure who inspired me to become a teacher, but I had a 5th grade teacher (Mrs. Loewen) who I adored. I chose this field because I enjoy working with and supporting others, particularly one-on-one and in small groups. Being an intervention specialist is the perfect fit for this.”
Tell us one interesting little fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
“I love to travel. So far my experiences include living in Mozambique, Africa, for a year, traveling to nine different countries, and visiting all but three of the 50 states.”
