Dalton High School’s varsity boys basketball team extended its win streak to six games after wins over Tuslaw and Lake Center Christian. The Dawgs own an overall record of 11-3 and a 9-0 WCAL record.

Dalton started the week by traveling to Tuslaw Jan. 26. The Dawgs collected the 72-59 win behind a 27-point game by Jalen Wenger. He nailed five triples and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. Jack Steiner and Bray-lon Wenger both finished with eight points and five rebounds each. Owen Beatty also put up eight points. Jaiden Malone scored six points and dished out six assists. Dillon Horst and Liam Riggenbach both had six points apiece. Ezra Miller and Quentin Lehman combined for three points. Jaden Schlabach grabbed five boards.

Jalen Wenger had another superb game Jan. 30 when he dropped 24 points in Dalton’s 48-44 home win over Lake Center Christian. Schlabach and Braylon Wenger added up to eight points. Riggenbach helped out with six points and Steiner had five points. Kyrie Gaut scored two points. Miller pulled eight rebounds and scored three points. Horst passed three assists.

“The kids played really well defensively over the majority of the game Saturday while only giving up 44 points,” said Dalton head coach Kaleb Reed. “We needed a defensive effort like that on a night when shots weren’t falling. As a team, we have been stressing relentless effort and I feel that the kids displayed that kind of effort tonight in the win.”
