OSP seeks help with Amish buggy hit-skip crash

BERLIN  The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wooster post is investigating a hit-skip crash from Saturday morning and seeks assistance from the public.

A horse and buggy was traveling on Somerset Drive (Township Road 359) near U.S. 62 at about 8:34 a.m. Feb. 6 and was struck from behind by a newer gray Subaru Impreza. The Subaru continued on Township Road 359 onto U.S. 62 in Berlin.

The buggy driver was not injured but the horse had to be put down at the scene, according to a news release from Ohio Highway Patrol.

The vehicle that left the scene should have moderate damage to the front bumper and right front panel, the news release states.

There is video of the vehicle leaving the scene. There was also a silver sport utility vehicle directly behind the Subaru that continued to follow the Subaru.

If anyone has any information to assist in this investigation, contact the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at 330-264-0575. Callers may ask for Lt. Steph Norman or Trooper James Donohue.
