COMETS BASKETBALL UPDATE: Comets earn double OT win

Central Christian School’s varsity boys basketball team had a tough start to the week with losses to St. Thomas Aquinas and Lucas. However, the Comets ended the week with a double
overtime win against Black River. Central is now 9-10 overall and 5-5 in the MBC.
CCS hosted St. Thomas Aquinas Feb. 9, but they fell to the Knights 71-56. Caden Granger finished with 15 points, two rebounds, three assists and one steal. Tyler Bonner totaled 12 points, four boards, five assists and one steal. Max Irwin helped out with 11 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block. Andrew Miller collected six points, five rebounds and two steals. Kaden Schrock ended with five points, two rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Clay Rohrer had four points, two rebounds and four assists. Dakota Kerby scored three points and grabbed one rebound.
The Comets traveled to Lucas Feb. 12. Central lost 46-30. Bonner had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He also had one steal. Miller scored four points, grabbed three boards, passed one assist and picked one steal. Rohrer finished with four points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Schrock had three points, two rebounds, four assists and four steals. Kerby chipped in three points and one assist. Granger totaled two points and five rebounds.
It took double overtime, but Central was able to secure a 51-48 home win against Black River Feb. 13. Bonner led with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Schrock contributed 10 points, along with three rebounds, two assists and five steals. Granger had nine points, five rebounds, one assist and four steals. Miller scored six points, grabbed four rebounds, dropped one dime and swiped one steal. Irwin collected six points, two rebounds and two steals.
Central’s girls varsity team fell on the road to Orrville, 55-47, Feb. 9. The Lady Comets finished the regular season with a 47-29 road loss to Strasburg Feb. 11.
