REAL ESTATE TIPS: Learn about Ryder Realty agents and their local connections
Valentine’s Day is only a few days away. Someone once told me that it is a “Hallmark Holiday” created to allow greeting card companies to make extra money. While others may expect to be pampered with gifts and flowers so that they are confident that their loved one thinks they’re special.
When I was talking to someone about what I should write about, they felt that it should be tied to Valentine’s Day and love. Clearly, I love my family, my community, and my job – but how do I tie the things that I love to a real estate column? Then it hit me. I love my agents.
Did you know that there are 11 licensed Realtors living in the Dalton school district. ELEVEN! In a district that graduates 75 kids a year and typically has less than 10 houses for sale at any given time, that is a lot. I have worked with all of them except one. In fact, just because the community is small, I can tell you where all but one of them lives. Our office has three agents who live in Dalton school district (including myself) and one who has ties to it. So because I love them (see how I worked in the Valentine’s theme?) and this is my Val-entine’s column I am going to tell you about them.
Mindy (Baum) Oswald is one of the smartest people I know. She picked up real estate concepts quickly and when she has a question for me, what she thought the answer was has always been correct. Mindy graduated from Dalton, married a man from Dalton and is raising her kids in Dalton – right next to her parents. So she knows our community well. But she isn’t just a “Dalton girl.” Her younger years were spent in Stark County (where both of her parents are from) and her early years of marriage they lived in Wadsworth.
Lindsay (Lehman) Peters reminds me of her dad, Galen – calm and kind and gets things done. Some of her deals have had interesting (and I don’t mean that in a good way) agents on the other end of the transaction, yet she handles them with patience and grace. How much she loves her clients is obvious to me and them. Continuing in her family’s footsteps, she lives in Kidron with her husband and daughter.
Katelyn Palfy has never lived in Wayne County but her mother-in-law, Amy (Steele) Palfy has. Amy grew up in Woodridge just a few houses down from where I live and her parents still live there today. Katelyn’s connection to Dalton runs deep because Amy’s does. I remember sitting at Katelyn’s baby shower surrounded by a table full of Amy’s Dalton friends – she referred to them as “family” yet they were not related. Katelyn treats her clients the same way – like family. And that is one of the things that I love about her.
I love all of my agents, even those not mentioned because either they are still not li-censed yet (but will be soon) or are not from Dalton. I am blessed to have the best agents in the world on my RR roster. Whether you have a Valentine or not, know that you are special and loved by people who may not be a “Valentine” per se but think the world of you, just like I feel about my agents.
