What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
Dalton has this uniqueness where a person walks in knowing that they are genuinely cared for all the while being pushed to do their best. I love having this environment to work in each day. Something else that I especially love about Dalton is my role. I have the opportunity to see students from Kindergarten through 4th grade. Being able to watch the students grow and get to know who they are is very rewarding and fulfilling to me.

How did you get to where you are today (education/ experience/inspiration)?
My family moved to Dalton 12 years ago. Wanting to get to know the community, I began volunteering. After meeting some fantastic people, I was asked if I had any interest in subbing for the school district. Being able to do this for three years allowed me the opportunity to work full-time. I have been in my current position for the last eight years. Many people have inspired me in my life, but two that stand out for this area would be my first grade teacher and Joyce Moyer. My first grade teacher, Mrs. Smith from Moffitt Heights Elementary, had this way to help every child feel important and know they could accomplish anything by trying. Joyce Moyer was one of the first people I met in Dalton. Her kindness, welcoming spirit and positive attitude every time I spoke with her helped me understand what a special place this is. These two women have inspired me to try to have a classroom that is positive, kind, happy, open, and full of growth.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
I almost became a flight attendant. When I was exploring different career options in high school, one thing that was fascinating to me was to be able to get paid to travel. The adventurous side of me thought it would be a great way to see different parts of the world while meeting new people. I enjoy being around people, and the aspect of interacting with all different personalities intrigued me. Also, the school I was looking at was in warm, sunny Florida. What could be better than that?!
