John L. King, Jr.

Rittman — John L. King, Jr., 63, of Rittman, formerly of Orrville and Anchorage, Alaska, died Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic following a period of declining health.
He was born January 11, 1958 in Wooster to John L. King, Sr. and Martha (Brown) Meese and has lived in the Rittman/Orrville area for many years.
John attended Wooster City Schools and married Debra K. King on December 26, 1976 and she preceded him in death in 2000.
He was employed by Artiflex (formerly Gerstenslager Co.) in Wooster and for Anchorage City Schools in Alaska, retiring in 2020.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, music and the Cleveland Browns. He was a member of the Orrville Church of Christ.
Surviving is daughter, Shawna (Victor) Montiel of Orrville; son, Ryan King of Rittman; grandchildren, Joslyn Potts, Adryanna and Brooke Bourne; mother, Martha Meese; brothers, Mike Meese, Jeff (Vicki) Meese, Marvin Meese and Frank (Kimberly) Meese all of Wooster, JC King and Jim (Christine) King of Alaska; sister, Judy (Joe) Ward of Alaska;  life partner, Lisa Uhler of Smithville; step-mother, Mary Jo King of Alaska; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John L. King, Sr.; wife, Debra; step-father, Cullen Meese; and special friend, Sandy Gerber.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Orrville Church of Christ, 314 N. Main St., Orrville, OH 44667.  Masks and social distancing will be required during visitation.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
