Superstar on Staff: Third-grade teacher loves Dalton’s family atmosphere

Rachel McBeth

Reason for nomination: Mrs. McBeth is always wanting to do more for her students. She has such a kind heart and cares about her student’s education and well being. Mrs. McBeth likes to have fun while learning in her room. She loves to do hands on activities that keep the students engaged and she puts a lot of her own time and money to make that happen. This is all while being a mom herself.

What do you love about working at Dalton Local Schools?
Dalton is a GEM, and is a very special and unique school district. Everyone is so kind, willing to help, supportive, and it just feels like we are one BIG family.

How did you get to where you are today (education/experience/inspiration)?
When I was little, I loved to play “School” with my sisters and neighbor. We would take turns pretending to be the teacher.
The teacher who inspired me the most to want to become a teacher was my 6th grade teacher Miss Manago. She always made learning so much fun and helped each student to learn through different teaching modalities. It was the way that she made me feel about school that inspires me to want to make learning fun.
I graduated from Tuslaw High School and attended The University of Akron where I obtained my Education degree. I had the pleasure to student teach at Kidron Elementary and quickly realized what a wonderful school district it was. I was fortunate to get a job the following school year as a title teacher. I worked in that role for 5 years and have been teaching 3rd grade since 2015.

Tell us one interesting little fact about yourself that people would be surprised to hear.
I have never flown on an airplane before.
