DGKN staff report

Fire at a business Saturday and a residence Sunday brought out several agencies.

Mount Eaton Paint Township Fire Department thanked Kidron, Wooster Township, East Wayne Fire District, Apple Creek, Wilmot, and Brewster on its Facebook page for responding to the fire at Uncle Danny’s Meats, 6772 S Mt. Eaton Road.

“We were able to obtain control of the situation before the fire escalated, causing too much damage,” the post states.

Central Fire District responded to a house fire along Smithville-Western Road Sunday. No one was injured, said Chief Mark Burns, and the cause is still under investigation.

EWFD noted on their Facebook page that they responded in Tanker 1 and Tanker 2 and volunteer members also handled a medical call in town.

“On a happier note,” the EWFD post continues, “our duty crew was also able to help celebrate the 80th birthday of one of our residents at Shady Lawn by participating in a birthday parade. Thanks for the invitation to the party and Happy Birthday!”
