DALTON  This season is extra special for Dalton High School’s varsity softball team. After losing the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, just having the opportunity to take the field is a special feeling for the Lady Dawgs.

Pam Spencer was set to lead the Lady Dawgs in 2020 during her first season as head coach. Even though the high school season was canceled, she still was able to work with her players over the summer.

“Last year was such a loss for us being new to the program,” Spencer said. “However, it was incredible to be able to participate in the Wayne County summer league with my JV and varsity girls.”

Spencer detailed one of the team’s goals for this season is to grow the culture of the team. She said they want to go from the mindset of “just Dalton softball” to “we are Dalton softball.”

There are five seniors on the team: Tess Denning, Abbi Snyder, Elle Mooney, Anna Maglott and Angelique Kosier.
