Dalton track boys, girls bring home trophies from Triway Invite

Both the boys and girls team for Dalton High School track and field brought home hardware from the Triway Invitational Saturday.

Dalton’s boys team (131) won the meet. West Holmes (121.5) came in second place and Orrville (84) was third. The girls team (138) placed second in another close margin behind first-place finisher Norwayne (142.5). Orrville (90) rounded out the top three finishers.

Ozzie Miller won the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 10.85. With this finish, Miller set a new Triway Invitational meet record. The previous record was 10.9 and it was set by Michael Vaco of Medina Highland in 2006.

Evan Hodkinson placed first in the boys mile and 400m dash. Lucas Oswald won the 800m run. Dalton’s relay teams also had some first-place finishes. The 4x800m relay team of Jordan Muth, Oswald, Jordan Wenger and Mitchell Kutz placed first. The 4x400m relay team of Muth, Oswald, Wenger and Hodkinson won the event.

Miller was not the only Dalton athlete to break a record during the meet. Emberlynn Nolt set a new Dalton school record when she finished the two mile in 12:27.11. The previous record of 12:35.3 was set by Kelly Zaleski in 2005.

Amelia Knetzer won the 300m hurdles. Brianna Chenevey placed first in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. The relay team of Bailey Chenevey, Miki Fath, Molly Soehnlen and Nolt came in first in the 4x800m relay. Brianna Chenevey, Lauren Clos, Ava Martinez and Knetzer made up the team that won the 4x200m relay.

Katie Good celebrated her birthday by bringing home two wins. She grabbed wins in both the shot put and discus.
