SPECIAL ELECTION UPDATE: Sugar Creek Township, Burbank levies pass
The Sugar Creek Township Roads and Bridges levy passed Tuesday at the special election, according to unofficial final results on the Wayne County Board of Elections website.
Residents cast 187 votes for the tax levy and 28 votes against the levy. Of 4,054 registered voters, 215 (5.3 percent) cast votes at the polls.
The 2-mill levy is a renewal levy and Sugar Creek Township trustees have said the levy is a main source of funding for the cost of repair and maintenance of the township’s 46 miles of roads and bridges.
Also at Tuesday’s special election, the village of Burbank passed its 3-mill park and rec renewal levy with 16 for the levy and four against; as well as a renewal and increase police levy of 7.5 mills with 14 for and six against. Twenty voters of 151 registered voters (13.25 percent) were represented from the village.
