Betty Jean Martin, age 89, of Jericho Road, Dalton, passed on to heaven on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday June 28, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Spidell Funeral Home in Mt. Eaton, Ohio with Pastor Larry Hasemeyer officiating.  Private family burial will be at the Fryburg Cemetery preceding the service.
Born in Holmes County on July 27, 1931, Betty was the daughter of Milo and Ollie (Miller) Hamsher.  Betty graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1949. On November 22, 1952 she married Glen Martin.  She and Glen were members of Gateway Church in Millersburg, Ohio.  After Glen’s passing in 2007, they are now happily together again.
Betty is survived by her four children – Doris (Mark) Zeck of Granbury, Texas, David (Esther) Martin of Coshocton, OH, Daniel (Carol) Martin of Dalton, OH, and James (Jane) Martin of Walnut Creek, OH, sixteen precious grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is her only sister, Mary Miller of Strasburg and one sister-in-law Esther Hamsher of Sugarcreek, OH.
Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband are eight brothers and six sisters-in-law, Dallas & wife Kathryn, John & wife Edith, Thomas & wife Norma, Edward & wife Margaret, Reuben & wife Mabel, Myron & wife Erma, Robert and James, and one brother-in-law Robert Miller.
The great loves of Betty’s life were her Heavenly Father, her family, grandchildren and singing.  During her life Betty was a woman of great faith who always expressed thankfulness, even in the midst of hardships.  She was a woman of encouragement to and prayer for all who were fortunate enough to know her.  She was a staunch supporter and indispensable help to her husband, and together they helped share the Good News of Jesus in countries around the world.
