MT. EATON Fireworks and a chicken barbecue – all for a good cause – may be the best way to celebrate a somewhat return to normalcy after a rough unusual year.
The annual Paint Township Firemen’s Festival returns June 26 with music, food, games, raffle, fireworks and more to benefit the Paint Township Mt. Eaton Fire Department.
The chicken barbecue features delicious sides of noodles, applesauce, bread and pie. Carry out starts at 4 p.m. at the Mt. Eaton school grounds and dining begins at 4:30 p.m. All food is provided by donation with all proceeds to benefit the fire department.
Music and games begin at 6 p.m. Two different bands will play all evening: New Sound and High Country.
Fireworks will be set off beginning at 10:15 p.m.
Basic EMT Sandra Yoder said the festival is “a huge team effort” and she feels lucky to be a part of the event. She also is proud to serve the community as a member of the fire department with her fellow volunteers.
“Life has been off the beaten trail far too long – it feels wonderful to get back to some normal things,” she said.
