Orrville PD seeks public’s help in stolen firearms case

DGKN staff report

ORRVILLE  Several firearms were stolen from Ace Hardware on Saturday and police are asking for the public to contact them with any information.

Orrville Police responded just after midnight Saturday to a security alarm at Ace Hardware, 1400 W High St. Upon arrival officers discovered a severely damaged overhead door at the rear of the business. The damage was consistent with damage that would be caused by a vehicle ramming the door, according to information issued by the police department.

Officers on scene searched the building, however no suspects were located inside. Officers discovered that a large number of firearms were stolen from the business.

ACE Hardware was able to provide the Orrville Police Department with the makes, models and serial numbers of the stolen firearms. Residents are asked to contact police if they have information about anyone in possession of, or attempting to sell, firearms that may have been stolen during this incident.

“We are asking residents/businesses who have exterior security cameras to check those cameras for any suspicious persons or vehicles,” information from the police department states. “We believe these incidents occurred between 11:30 p.m. Friday night and 12:05 a.m. this morning.”

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call OPD at 330 684-5025 or submit an anonymous tip via TIP411. Send a text to 847411 and in the body of the message start by typing OPD and then your tip.
