Volleyball: Riders Take Care of Business Against Northwest
The Riders were hot tonight downing the Northwest Indians in 3 sets. Playing big for the Riders was Karissa Hargrave with 13 kills. Ainsley Hamsher and Lily Phillips both ended the night with 10 kills each. Amari Slaughter was in the zone with 38 assists in just 3 sets, keeping the Indian defense guessing.
In the back court Averi Haley, Ella Gonzales and Ainsley Hamsher stood tough in serve receive keeping the momentum flowing for the Riders. Digging in on defense and making it hard for the Indian offense to put the ball away- Averi Haley had 13 digs, Gonzales had 12 and Lily Phillips had 12. Annie Ayers and Hargrave also chipped in a few blocks recording 2 and 3 respectively. Ainsley Hamsher completed her double-double with 10 digs of her own.
Hamsher was also impressive from the service line with 17 service points and 4 aces to put pressure on the Indians all evening.
The Rider squad was fun to watch tonight and produced a great team win. They will be back in action Thursday at home against CVCA. Freshmen will start at 5pm JV at 6pm and Varsity at 7pm.
The JV also downed the Indians in 2 sets putting on an impressive display of defense and persistence!
