Deadline to register for general election Oct. 4
The deadline to register for the general election is Oct. 4. The general election this year is Nov. 2. Voters may visit www.VoteOhio.gov or www. WayneCountyOH.gov to register online, check their voter registration, change their address, locate their polling place, view sample ballots, and find absentee voter information.
Voters also can register in person at one of the following locations by the registration deadline:
* Wayne County Board of Elections office, 200 Vanover St. (2nd floor), Wooster. Office hours are: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
The office will be open Oct. 4 until 9 p.m. –the last day for registration.
* The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office
* BMV or Deputy Registrars
* Office of designated agencies, including:
o The Department of Job and Family Services
o The Department of Health (including WIC)
o The Department of Mental Health
o The Department of Developmental Disabilities
o Any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students
* County treasurer’s office
* Any public library
* Any public high school or vocational school
Qualifications to register for this election include: must be a citizen of the United States; must be 18 years of age on or before the Nov. 2, 2021 General Election; must be a resident of Ohio 30 days prior to the day of the election.
In person absentee (early) voting will begin on Oct. 5. Visit the WCBOE website at www.WayneCountyOH.gov to view a calendar with in person absentee voting hours. Applications for absentee ballots by mail are now being accepted. Go to www.WayneCountyOH.gov to print out an application or call the office at 330-287-5480 to have an application sent to you. Ballots will be mailed beginning Oct. 5.
