Wooster man dies in two-vehicle crash in Paint Township

PAINT TWP. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Oct. 1. The crash occurred at the intersection of Harrison Road and S Kansas Road in Paint Township in Wayne County.
According to a news release, initial investigation revealed that William Jordan, 78, of Orrville, was traveling north on S Kansas Rd in a 2019 Ram 1500. James Meadows, 70, of Wooster, was traveling east on Harrison Rd on a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King. Mr. Jordan failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection of S Kansas Rd and Harrison Rd and pulled into the path of Mr. Meadows. Mr. Meadows struck Mr. Jordan’s truck on the driver’s side and both vehicles came to rest in the intersection. Mr. Meadows was pronounced dead at the scene, Mr. Jordan was not injured. A 70 year old female who was a passenger on the motorcycle also sustained serious injuries and was transported via life flight to Akron City Hospital. Neither occupant of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the South Central Fire Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
At this time the crash remains under investigation, however drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. This is the 11th fatal crash in Wayne County in 2021.
