Dr. Jorge E. Motta (85) passed away on October 11, 2021 in Shaker Heights, OH with his family at his side.
Jorge Motta was born in Bogotá Colombia to Jorge Motta and Leonor (nee Romero) Motta on December 12, 1935. He married Dolores (nee Eureka) Motta on January 25, 1969 in Broadview Heights, OH. He graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá on January 30, 1963 and completed his surgical residency at St. Alexis Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He worked as a general surgeon for over forty years at Lodi Hospital in Lodi OH and Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, OH. Dr. Motta was loved by so many and honored for his devotion to the Orrville community and commitment to Dunlap Memorial Hospital by Mayor Dennis Steiner, who proclaimed October 31, 2003 as “Dr. Jorge Motta Day”. Jorge continued his devotion to medicine and caring for others by volunteering for Central American Medical Outreach (CAMO). He was an avid soccer fan, loved his garden, his family, traveling, dancing, and all things Colombian.
Jorge is preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister Clara (nee Motta) Betancourt and survived by wife Dolores, his loving children Edward Motta (Denise), Patricia Motta (Craig), Denise Motta Caulkins (Brian), David Motta (Jenny), and Andrea Workinger (Brian), his brother Alberto Motta (Fanny), sister Elsa Merendoni (Camilo), sister Leonor Ayesh, and sister Luz Motta (Frank), his beloved Grandchildren Andrew Motta, Gabriel, Victor, and Elsa Nard, Eva, Nico, Javiar, and Tiago Motta, and Ella, Blakely and Landon Workinger.

Funeral Mass for family and friends will be held on Monday October 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of St. Dominic in Shaker Heights, OH with Father Tom Fanta officiating. The Mass will be live streamed on the church website. Visitation will take place 1 hour before Mass. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery in Brookpark, OH.
